Researchers found that in parents with none mental health conditions, 5.8% of babies were born preterm. Amongst babies whose fathers had psychiatric diagnoses, the chance of preterm birth was 6.3%, and with the mother’s psychiatric diagnosis, the chance increased to 7.3%. In cases when each parents were diagnosed, the chance of preterm birth was 8.3%.
